How are the beaches in Dubrovnik in July?

We are a group of 4 people and we are considering a trip to Dubrovnik this July. How are the beaches in this time of the year? Are they accessible to the town centre and will we experience no difficulty in going there? Your responses will be appreciated. Thanks!

There are a number of different beaches that are located on Dubrovnik itself, most of them surround the Old Town Center and the Zaton Mall.  Most of the beaches here are rocky and full of pebbles so make sure that you bring protective footwear before heading out here.

Since the peak of the beach season in Dubrovnik is between July and August, they can be quite crowded with throngs of people.  Needless to say, the roads are going to be filled with many families and friends heading off to the beaches here.  If you are not really too keen on having to deal with traffic and extremely crowded beaches, you may want to consider moving your trip during the months of May, June or September.  These are still the high season so the waters are still going to be warm enough, but it would not be too crowded as compared if you head over here in July.  You can also consider going during the low season to avoid the crowds completely.  April and October are still ideal because the waters are still warm enough and still good to swim in.
