You can get sort of married in the Maldives as a foreigner but for an official marriage you would have to do that in Male. Most people will only have a unofficial wedding ceremony at the various different Maldives resorts.

But if you are planning to get married in the Maldives, there are certain rules and regulations that you have to be aware of and have to follow these rules. Four people are usually present to escort the couple from the hotel rooms to the venue of the wedding. This is a very customary tradition here in the country. The bride usually dresses up in a beautiful white gown and the groom suits up in black and white. The hotels or resorts look after the entertainment aspects as well. They hire drumbeaters from nearby villages who play the drums, as well as perform the famous local dance known as bodu bera. In the beginning, there is a tree planting ceremony, which is symbolic of the nurturing needed to make a marriage work. There is a plantation area where the couple is escorted to and is given a coconut palm tree to plant, which marks a symbol of everlasting faith and love. Once this is done, they are escorted back to the hall and a priest conducts the wedding ceremony where the couple takes their vows. The taking of vows signals the symbolic end to the wedding with the couple being offered coconut water to drink and after that, they cut the cake. Once this is done, the guests are treated to some champagne.
On the completion of all the rituals of the wedding ceremony, the guests and the couple are escorted to the banquet hall where the chefs lay out a grand feast consisting of Chinese, Indian, Thai and Italian dishes for them to gorge on. It is accompanied by some good music, and the customary first dance of the couple. Some of the hotels offer package deals for the wedding as well as the honeymoon, taking advantage of the fact that the country is a beautiful holiday destination.

So, if you are planning a grand wedding, then Maldives is the place for you.
